Cant download project fi app

I just had a similar issue with a ATT sim card on my Pixel 2 that I activated Project Fi on. I popped out the sim card, cleared out the cache, rebooted the phone didn't work. Cleared out Project Fi app cache, rebooted phone, and that worked. After the eSim was set up, I popped the ATT sim card back in and I can see 2 options for carriers.
